News: "These are the times that try men's souls.  The summer soldier
and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the
service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the
love and thanks of man and woman."

-- Thomas Paine (The American Crisis, No. 1, 19 December 1776)

"Without justice being freely, fully, and impartially administered, neither our persons, nor our rights, nor our property, can be protected. And if these, or either of them, are regulated by no certain laws, and are subject to no certain principles, and are held by no certain tenure, and are redressed, when violated, by no certain remedies, society fails of all its value; and men may as well return to a state of savage and barbarous independence." --Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833

So, what's up with Liberty's Price?  Well, as anyone who visits lately can plainly see, not too much.

After a series of attacks by register-bots and new members who only wanted to post porn and advertisements we found it necessary to restrict registration of new members to be handled by the admin on a one-by-one basis.  The admin has not been overloaded with applications, to say the least.  However, traffic to the site remains at a steady pace and is surprisingly high for a site that has had little new content posted in some time.

That's the key ... Liberty's Price has enduring value because of all the practical information posted already.  Postings that inform, instruct and explain.  Postings that stimulate and make you ponder some very serious questions.  For that, at least, Liberty's Price is here for the long haul.  The "management" will keep the site up indefinitely in order to keep this content available to each new wave of curious and interested Patriots that find, enjoy and appreciate what all of YOU have built here.

ConchMan has been remiss about posting, as much as or more than anyone.  I've spent a stint with a local New Jersey group (NJCSD) which is doing good work but has some internal political and ego problems.  In the end I had to walk away from that but still give it my full support and encouragement.  I've been pursuing some personal career changes, having built a budding career in acting in the New York stage and on not yet well known film projects.  Over the past two years I've developed quite a resume and hope one day to be up on the stage collecting one of those little gold statues.  We'll see.

We all know it's a stormy time and that big storms could be on the horizon -- in that area I've been working with my friends and neighbors, talking about "what if" situations and making contingency plans.  In the next few years our challenges may be more economic than political, though those two arenas are tightly interwoven.  I'm putting "survival plans" into place and keeping the equipment sharp and clean and well supplied.  With any luck at all I won't have to use it, but it's ready if it's needed.

Perhaps more than anything else right now it's important that we build and maintain Community.  When the chips are down each of us will HAVE to work together with others and we need to build those relationships and understand their limits before they are needed.  We won't be able to place absolute demands on others anymore than others can expect blind obedience from us.  We'll need to understand how far people will go and, hopefully, something about their limits so we don't push them too far.  We also need to know our own limits so we can stand our ground when it becomes necessary - personally and politically.

I continue to have great faith in the American People and the principles of Liberty that spurred our Founding Fathers to action and sustained them even through the darkest hours.  I continue to believe, not like Adams - who said that once Freedom is lost it is lost forever - but that the Liberty and Freedom that this country has brought to the world will not and cannot be extinguished.  The People have eaten of the "forbidden fruit" and no Tyrant can prevail for long against what has been awakened in us.

Due to the constant barrage of automated registration attacks on the site it is necessary to suspend registration handling by the software.  Any person who would like to register as a member must now direct an email to the administrator (admin@libertysprice.org) giving your name, email address, residence address, contact telephone number and a brief comment regarding your interest in Liberty's Price.

We're sorry if this seems an imposition or intrusive, but it's necessary to distinguish between real, truly interested people and automated software registration or people who just want to post advertisements or pornography.  If it's too much trouble for you, then we must regretfully recommend that you go elsewhere.

Once you have been registered you will have full access and no other steps will be necessary and no further information will be required.  You are free to fill out your profile as little or as much as you wish.

This year, although discussion on the forum has been at a lower level than before, many new members have joined and a significant number of the new members appear to be from countries other than the United States.  We're glad to see the appeal of our message, purpose and discussion reaching out beyond the borders of the US.  Why?

Liberty in the US has been under attack for decades.  Elements of the American population have decided that the Federal Government is sovereign (has ultimate authority to decide) and that individuals are to be compliant, dutiful citizens bowing to the decisions of the "chosen" few who hold the reins of Federal government power.  Huge sums of money are spent to obtain these positions and there is much intrigue and struggle over them.  This is entirely contrary to the intent of the Founders of the United States and many, many of us are fighting to withstand and to reverse this trend.  We are making progress, but it is a long fight and our foes who wish to see a One-World central government that decides everything for its citizens are committed to fighting on to the end.

For Liberty and Freedom to persist in our world it must spread to other countries where it does not yet exist and must be strengthened where is has already been established.  It is not only the United States that needs these principles at the foundation of society, but every country of the World.  The success of America is based on our system ... a system where the individual is sovereign and all levels of government are the servants of the people.  A system where government has NO power inherently and is granted power, in specific ways, by the citizens.  Every other country in the World can experience the same growth, the same openness, the same quality of life as we do, through the practice of the principles of Liberty and Freedom.

Liberty will not ever be entirely secure, for there will always be those among us who will want to subject us to their personal rule and preferences.  There will always be those who want to dominate the rest of us.  For Liberty and Freedom to be their strongest, they must be rooted everywhere and nurtured by all men everywhere.  Only when ALL MEN ARE FREE will any of us be truly free.

Let the principles of Liberty and Freedom be America's gift to the World.  Take these ideas, plant them in your own country, protect and nurture them and defend them against all who would eliminate them.

That is the Future of Liberty.
